Assistant Provost for International Administration
Kansas State University invites nominations and applications for the position of Assistant Provost for International Administration in the Office of International Programs. We seek a dynamic individual who will provide collaborative leadership to an essential unit as a part of an office that includes five units - Study Abroad, International Student and Scholar Services, English Language Program, International Admissions and Recruiting, and International Research & Faculty Collaboration. The successful candidate must be a strategic thinker and a visionary leader who understands and values the university’s commitment to excellence in internationalization at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate must be a broad thinker; a strong advocate for internationalization of Kansas State University, the Office of International Programs; a collaborative and deliberate decision maker; and a responsible fiscal manager. Responsibilities fall under the broad categories of Executive/Managerial; Human Resources Management; Budget/Supervisory.
The Office of International Programs furthers the goal of internationalization of the university through excellent student recruitment and retention; solid immigration advising and robust programming for international students; English proficiency assessment and teaching; promoting and facilitating education abroad experiences for students, faculty, and curriculum integration in the classroom; customized support for sponsored students, and; support for international research and the promotion of faculty collaborations. The Office of International Programs employs more than 100 staff throughout its units.
Kansas State University is a public land grant institution with over 24,500 students from all 50 states and more than 2,200 international students from more than 100 countries. It is centered on a 664-acre campus in Manhattan located 125 miles west of Kansas City in the rolling Flint Hills of Northeast Kansas. The strong local economy is bolstered by K-State and its proximity to Fort Riley. The city is large enough (54,600 permanent) to have big city amenities but small enough to maintain a strong sense of community.
The Assistant Provost for International Administration manages the day-to-day operations of the Office of International Programs (OIP) with special attention to budget, personnel, international agreements/contracts and risk management. The Assistant Provost also represents OIP as the main authority in absence of the Associate Provost. This executive level position has direct oversight of International Student and Scholars Services, Study Abroad, International Admissions and Recruitment, Special Programs/Sponsored Students and the centralized services for the Office (accounting, technology, and administrative support).
Demonstrated capacity to lead and administer complex units or structures
Experience supervising managerial level positions
Experience in budget development and management
Demonstrated awareness and understanding of diverse perspectives including international perspectives
Positive track record of working with diverse populations
Outstanding communicational skills (oral and written)
Administrative experience in higher education
International experience such as working in an international setting, living abroad, working abroad or having extensive study abroad experience

Salary Range: $90,000 – $105,000 depending on experience for 12 month contracts
Start Date: Negotiable, with preference for January 15, 2015.
