Christa Smith joined the Office of Educational Innovation and Evaluation as an evaluator in January 2005.
In her four years of employment, Christa has been responsible for the evaluation of over 30 national,
state-wide and university funded programs and has participated in grant writing for several evaluation
projects. Christa's interests in program evaluation are concentrated in the areas of advancement of
underrepresented groups in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), capacity building,
quantitative and qualitative research methods, and online survey administration. She serves as the principal
evaluator for the K-State ADVANCE: IT Program, College of Education Assessment, Midwest Equity Assistance
Center grant and collaborates with colleagues on the evaluation of the K-State STEM Talent Expansion Program
(STEP). Christa is the principal evaluator and temporary project coordinator of the WaterLINK program.
Christa has a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Arts in Sociology, both from Kansas State University.
Her research areas include social inequality, social stratification, and the sociology of education.
