Meeting opened with Elizabeth Schrum presiding. Our checks have arrived
& Elizabeth turned them over to Rhondalyn to keep in locked up in her
office for Safe keeping.
Elizabeth presented the constitution with changes that were decided on
during the executive board meeting. 2/3rds of members present voted to
accept the amended constitution. Elizabeth to type up finished draft &
turn into OSAS. She will bring copies of the new constitution to our
next meeting for any members that would like a copy.
Rhondalyn brought u the april 1st taste of culture at ECUM. This is an
important fund raiser. Rhondalyn Peairs handed out the tickets for The
Taste of culture that we have to sell to raise funds. We receive more
money if more people sell tickets. Mineu was discussed. Decided that
Elizabeth, Rachel, and Georgia would try making fry bread this weekend.
Estimate how much fry bread you can get out of 1lb of flour & to compare
different recipes. Georgia to check with Ken to see if AIB ever makes
"fry bread" and if possible to acquire a donation from them.
We discussed corn soup & possibly pumpkin bread or a sweet mexican bread
recipe. We ask people to sign up for time slots that they can help
serve at the April 1 event that lasts 1-6. We may have a fry bread
party prior to the event. Elizabeth & Rhondalyn to check on food.
Brain stormed 10 things we want people to know about native Americans
for the Diversity Summit. Georgia to type & email to executive staff.
Anyone interested in attending Big 12 conference in April, should be at
our March 29th meeting for a head count. Rhondalyn & Elizabeth to
check on funding for the Big 12 conference to be held at KU. We
shouldn't have to pay for lodging, since in driving distance.
Rhondalyn to check on if you can attend single days or have to sign up
for the total conference.
Miriam to update us on where she is at on Donovan Sprague. NASA
decision is to have his talk open to all Multiculture Student Groups &
not limit who can attend so our funding can be used.
Georgia PErez updated that all of the paperwork for Lloyd Elm has been
turned into OSAS for his check. Georgia to touch base with Pat on his
departure time. He will be our first speaker, scheduled on 4/4 at 5:30
in the student Union room 213. We will discuss his social/potluck from
305 in the Hemisphere room at the library at our next meeting.
Elizabeth or Rachel to work on our posters for Heritage Month. Georgia
gave Rhondalyn the Purchase Order for us to have the work done.
Executive board meeting set for March 22 at 4:30 in the Library for
anyone that is not going out of town for Spring Break.
Our next General meeting for all members is March 29th in the Union MSO.
