Musical Background

I grew up in Oberlin, KS--a small town of about 1600 people. I graduated from there in 2007 and not a day goes by I don't miss the town or my family. I have been involved in music all my life. I've been involved in musicals, band, choir, plays, and anything else music I could get my hands on. I love to sing and that love was instilled by my entire family, but mostly my mother and grandmother; we've got some pretty tight harmonies! My students are the ones who bring light into my life as well as the music and experiences they bring with them. It excites me to learn more and more every day about a subject which comes so naturally to me. I want to instill the love of music into every one of my students as well as anyone in their lives they can touch. Community is such a unique feeling which is found in a choral environment. We are a team and no one is more important than the other. Life lessons and important character traits are instilled in the classroom daily. Music educators have the advantage of being able to use the emotionality of music in their classroom and in turn, can teach these life lessons.
