Among the honors listed above I feel that one of my major accomplishments over my time here at Kansas State is my participation in our top Symphony Band. This group, under the direction of Dr. Frank Tracz, plays at an increasingly high level of performance each year. Symphony band plays a wide variety of challenging literature including transcriptions for band, standard repertoire, and several original commissions for wind band. I have been a member of the saxophone section in this ensemble since my freshman year. As a member of this ensemble, I have played at the national MENC convention, the local Kansas Music Educator’s Association conference as well as toured the south pacific where we played concerts in both Auckland New Zealand and Sydney Australia.

This spring I was honored to have been invited by Dr. Tracz to be a guest soloist with our Kansas State University Band. In addition to this honor, I am very excited to have been chosen to compete in our annual KSU music department honors recital. I just recently competed in the first round where I was awarded first place.

Thank you very much for reviewing my professional materials.

Sincerely,

Nicholas A. Pool
