As a music educator, I need skills in evaluating music performances for improvement and necessary musical elements. I have gained this skill in many ways in order to apply my evaluations to the music classroom and in reflection of musical performances. My first artifact is a word document which analyzes a beginning jazz band method book. This evaluation of the Essential Elements for jazz ensembles allows me to review material at assess if it is adequate for instruction. I have also included a concert review of the KSU Women’s Glee Club. This review is an example of my evaluation of a choral performance. Evaluations similar to this one will aid me in reflecting upon choral performances and provide options for student improvement.
