II. University General Education Requirements:
Students
must complete at least 18 hours of approved UGE courses (marked by w in the catalog ) , one third/6 hours of which must be at the 300-level
or above. Courses may overlap with the Basic Requirements for the College of
Arts and Sciences, as listed above. The 18 hours may not include music courses,

half recital or an extended ÒjuryÓ recital is required before graduation. Divisional recommendation determines
the methods of satisfying this requirement.
Instrumental
majors are required to participate in marching band for at least two semesters
(preferably during the freshman and sophomore years). String majors may substitute a comparable experience for
this requirement.
Piano
proficiency requirements must be
met one semester before scheduling student teaching. (Students will no be
allowed to complete the STAR form without a passing score for piano
proficiencies)
