Jacqueline Fassler-Kerstetter teaches horn, music theory, and advanced brass techniques on the faculty of Kansas State University’s music department. Dr. Fassler-Kerstetter is also Chair of the Wind and Percussion Division. Before coming to K-State in 1999, Jacqueline taught horn and music theory at Western Kentucky University (1994-1999). While in Kentucky, she also served as Principal Horn of the Bowling Green Western Symphony, Fourth Horn with the Evansville Philharmonic (IN) and Second Horn with the Owensboro Symphony (KY). She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Indiana University, and The University of Georgia.

Dr. Fassler-Kerstetter has studied horn with Jean Martin, Michael Hatfield, Myron Bloom, Douglas Hill, Nancy Becknell, and Helen Kotas Hirsch. Her symphonic experience also includes performing with the orchestras of Greenville, SC; Myrtle Beach, SC; Asheville, NC; Savannah, GA and Nashville, TN. During the 1988-89 concert season, she served as co-principal horn with the Filarmónica del Bajío of Guanajuato, Mexico. Jacqueline has also performed at the Aspen Music Festival in 1984, 1985 and 1986; and with the American Wind Symphony on its 1987 U.S. tour and its 1990 European tour. In the spring of 2006, Dr. Fassler-Kerstetter was featured as a soloist on the K-State Symphony Band’s tour of Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji.

Students in Dr. Fassler-Kerstetter’s horn studio have excelled. Her students received Honorable Mention in the MTNA Collegiate Brass Competition for Kentucky in both 1996 and 1997, First Alternate in the 2000 MTNA High School Brass Competition for Kansas, and First Alternate and Honorable Mention in the 2001 MTNA Collegiate Brass Competition for Kansas. Most recently, her student Crystal Lee was awarded First Place in the 2002 MTNA Collegiate Brass Competition for Kansas and the 2002 MTNA Collegiate Brass Competition for the West-Central Division; and competed in the 2002 National MTNA Collegiate Brass Competition.
