Manny Oquendo & Libre were the Friday night show at SOB's in the Village. A well-known timbalero and bandleader, Manny is the bearer of the típico stylistic torch in New York. The sad news was that Manny was ill and did not perform. The good news was that the band was rock-solid on its bajo foundation - Andy Gonzalez. Great singers and Libre's trademark three-trombone sound (along with an exuberant sound man) gave the band plenty of punch.
