Brad Regier to teach in Egypt!

Beginning in September 2011, Brad Regier will be the band director at the American International School of Egypt. While there, he hopes to further his percussion education in the areas of doumbek and middle-eastern music. From 2009-2011 he was the band director at Chase County. Brad is originally from Haysville, KS and received his BME at K-State in 2008. In his spare time, Brad enjoys running, traveling, and KC area sports.

David Whitman Update

We asked David Whitman to send a list of his recent activities, and he did not disappoint! 1) I have completed ALL requirements for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Southern Mississippi. I will be hooded with degree in hand on May 13th.

2) 10 months ago I did a large US tour, giving clinics and masterclasses all over the place, and have since continued to give them at, predominantly, high schools---although there have been no more large tours.

3) March 2011 article in Percussive Notes.

4) I have a commercial private studio in San Diego, CA. I am regularly (2-3 per week) gigging in the Southern California Area.

5) I recently performed with Itzhak Perlman and the Meridian Symphony Orchestra in Mississippi, and am staying active as an orchestral player.

6) I have signed an artist/educator contract with Remo.

7) I spent 5 intensive months learning to play tabla, and devising a specified system of transcribing tabla music to drum set. I continue to study tabla and life with my guru-ji, Pandit Arup Chattopadhyay.

KSU Graduate Jeff Hewitt Accepts Assistantship


KSU graduate Jeff Hewitt, who completes his Master of Music Degree at the University of Missouri in May 2011, has accepted a graduate teaching assistantship at the University of Arizona, where he will pursue the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree.

Nick Wulfkuhle is currently manager of the Charlottesville, VA location of Music & Arts Centers. Nick grew up in Grove City, OH and attended Kansas State University for Undergraduate Studies. After his time at KSU, Nick was an intern for the Percussive Arts Society where he help planned and produce the 2005 Percussive Arts Society International Convention. Since then Nick joined the Music & Arts Centers, one of the largest music retailer's in the United States. Nick was married to his wife Kallie in September 2007.

 

 

 

Jason Reichenberger teaches band at Kingwood High School in Kingwood, TX. He grew up in Wichita, KS and went to Kansas State University for his undergraduate degree in Music Education. After KSU, he moved to Madison, WI to get a masters degree in Percussion Performance. Life then took him to Kingwood, where he began teaching in 2004.

Originally from Rapid City, South Dakota, Aric Hageman received his Master of Music degree with an emphasis in percussion performance from Kansas State University in May 2006. Aric was the first percussion graduate assistant at KSU under the direction of Dr. Kurt Gartner. Aric graduated from the University of Wyoming in May 2004 with his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. Aric has accepted the position of the director of bands at Riverton High School in Riverton, Wyoming where he is starting the marching band and conducting the concert band, jazz band, pep band and percussion ensemble. In his spare time, Aric enjoys biking and hiking in the mountains.
