Donald Linn

Assistant Director of Bands

Don LinnDonald Linn currently serves as the Assistant Director of Bands at K-State. His duties include directing the Wind Symphony, university pep-bands, basketball bands, assistant marching band director, and teaching courses in conducting, arranging, and marching band techniques. Prior to his appointment at K-State, he served as the interim Associate Director of Bands at Youngstown State University where he was director of the YSU Marching Pride. Prior to his appointment at YSU, Mr. Linn completed a M.M. in Wind Conducting at Ball State University under Dr. Thomas Caneva where he taught undergraduate conducting, assisted with athletic bands, and conducted the Campus and Concert Bands. Before graduate study, Mr. Linn taught in the public schools as the director of bands at Nottoway High School in Crewe, VA. While teaching in Virginia, Mr. Linn received a Presidential Citation for Teaching Excellence from the University of Richmond Governor¹s School. Mr. Linn earned his bachelor's degree in music education from Virginia Tech. Mr. Linn is in demand as a guest conductor, adjudicator, clinician, drill writer, and arranger. His marching show drill and arrangements have been performed in Virginia, Indiana, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Missouri, New York, Ohio, North Carolina, Alabama, Texas, Kansas and Toronto. This past December the Kansas State University Marching band was awarded the prestigious Sudler Trophy from the John Philip Sousa Foundation for excellence, contribution, and innovation in marching band. Mr. Linn is a member of NAfME, the National Band Association, CBDNA, Pi Kappa Lambda, Phi Mu Alpha, and holds honorary membership in Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma.
