Welcome to ICA State of Kansas Home Page
It is my pleasure to present this home page to clarinetists in the state of Kansas, and all other clarinetists visiting our site. I agreed to take the position of Kansas state chair in August of 2006, and one of my first ideas was to create an I.C.A. Kansas web site. I feel that this site will serve to inform clarinetists in our area of happenings in the clarinet world, and who our area clarinet professionals are. I will be contacting our Kansas I.C.A. membership and other clarinetists in our state shortly. If any of you know of an event that you would like to be posted on this site, just contact me. It is my intention to make this page as informative and useful as possible. Also please let me know of any information that may be missing or incorrect. In case you have not heard, the 2008 international convention will take place in Kansas City. This is an exciting time for all clarinetists in our region! Sincerely, |

Welcome Stephanie Zelnick, Professor of Clarinet at the University of Kansas!
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Stephanie Zelnick, who will be the Professor of Clarinet at the University of Kansas beginning this fall. I think you will find Dr. Zelnick to be a warm and friendly person, as well as a spectacular clarinetist! Stephanie Zelnick has performed as a soloist and orchestral clarinetist throughout the United States and Europe. Dr. Zelnick has received critical acclaim for her solo and orchestral performances. The San Francisco Classical Voice calls her playing simply sublime, and the Boulder Daily Camera praises her exquisite clarinet solos. She is currently serving as principal clarinet in the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, Central City Opera, and the Colorado Ballet and performs regularly with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Zelnick has enjoyed a long and diverse career as an orchestral musician. In the United States, she has held positions as principal clarinet in the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra and Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra as well as performing with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Pops, the Aspen Chamber and Festival Orchestras, and the Crested Butte Chamber Festival. In Europe she served as principal clarinetist of the Czech Chamber Philharmonic. She also appeared throughout Europe with numerous orchestras including the Prague Opera, the Johann Strauss Opera in Vienna, and the Frantisbad Symphony Orchestra in the Czech Republic. |
