About Islam
A muslim believes in seven articles:
- Tawhid - Belief in Allah, the one and only one worthy of all worship.
- Nabi and Rusul - Belief in all the Prophets (nabi) and Messengers (rusul) sent by God.
- Kutub - Belief in the Books sent by God, which are Quran, Tawra, Injil and Zabur.
- Mala'ika - Belief in the Angels.
- Qiyama - Belief in the Day of Judgement.
- Life after death - Belief in the Resurrection.
- Qadar - Belief in Destiny (Fate).
And there are five pillars of Islam (Islamic practices):
- Shahadah - The Testimony of Faith, the declaration that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is his messenger.
- Salat - establishing of the five daily Prayers.
- Zakat - Obligatory (religious) almsgiving.
- Sawm - Fasting during certain periods in Islamic calender.
- Hajj - The Pilgrimage to Mecca.
The three most holy places of Islam are:
- Al-Masjid al-Haram, Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
- Masjid-e-Nabwi, Madina, Saudi Arabia.
- Al-Haram al-Qudsi al-Sharif, Jerusalem.
