Service
Mortar Board was founded on the three ideals of scholarship, leadership, and service.  Below are highlights of the chapter's dedication to service.

The Kansas State Mortar Board Chapter is very active with many service projects throughout the year. Our main project has been to promote Mortar Board's national theme, “ Reading is Leading.” Two chapter members visit Manhattan Day Care and Learning Center , Manhattan HeadStart, and Northview Elementary School each week to read new children's books. After reading the books, and spending time at the center, the members leave the books to enhance their library. Dr. Marjorie Hancock, Associate Professor in the College of Education , has supported this initiative with generous donations of children's books.

In addition, our chapter is active in community service projects. We are planning and implementing a couple of projects with local long-term care facilities. During the holiday season, we also adopted a young homeless man through the Manhattan Emergency Shelter and provided gifts for him and several other individuals.

It's been an exciting year of service at Kansas State!
