Mortar Board was founded on the three ideals of scholarship, leadership, and service. Below are highlights of the chapter's dedication to leadership.
It is the function of the Leadership Team to be an active part of the 2011-2012 Mortar Board chapter. We strive to contribute meaningful educational and leadership opportunities for members, as well as K-State students, while promoting and maintaining Mortar Board's reputation and traditions.
The Leadership Team also strives to implement new initiatives in the group. In the fall, the team helped coordinated a benefit concert for First Book, Mortar Board’s main philanthropy. The concert featured three K-State vocal ensembles: K-State Singers, In-A-Chord, and Cadence. By reaching out to other campus honor societies as well as friends, family and the Manhattan community, this event was able to raise $500.
During National Mortar Board Week, February 13-17, 2012, our chapter will be raising awareness of Mortar Board and celebrating our pillars of scholarship, leadership and service. The Leadership Team will coordinate events throughout the week such as an informational booth in the union and a card-making service project for Valentine’s Day. Mortar Board will also host a panel discussion featuring some of K-State’s most influential women leaders on Thursday, February 16 at 7:00 p.m. in Leadership Studies Town Hall
