Job will require approximately 12 hours per week. Applicants may not work for the Collegian simultaneously because of a conflict of interest.
Job description:
Film interviews of faculty experts, students and others on campus on a broad range of topics related to K-State, and film b-roll to accompany interviews. The ideal video podcast is two-and-a-half to three minutes long and appeals to a broad audience, not just college students or others affiliated with K-State. It will appear on the K-State YouTube channel and will be promoted using social media like Facebook and Twitter.
Duties
Podcaster will be given video podcast assignment that should be completed in approximately three weeks or less. Podcaster will contact sources to set up time to interview and film other footage during the media relations office hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. A Sony X1AH video camera, external microphone and tripod are available.
Podcaster will edit footage into short video using Final Cut Pro and employing media relations' style for transition effects, intro slides, etc. Supervisor will review and approve podcast before it's posted online and will guide editing process as needed. Interview subjects may review the podcast if requested.
Podcaster is expected to maintain professional demeanor in all communications with interview subjects, whether in person, via phone or via e-mail.
