FINE ART PUBLISHER TO SPEAK ABOUT COLLECTION AT K-STATE'S BEACH MUSEUM OF ART
MANHATTAN -- Joe Zanatta, owner of Zanatta Editions in Shawnee, will talk about the art, craft and business of printmaking at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Kansas State University's Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art.
Zanatta will use pieces in the current exhibition "A Family Affair: Selections from the Zanatta Editions" as examples during his free gallery talk.
"I'll talk about each artist and how each published work evolved," Zanatta said. He also plans to give his perspective on each work -- what the artist is doing with the medium or trying to say with the image. Afterward, Zanatta will take questions from attendees.
Zanatta Editions is an independent publisher of artists' prints, photographs and multiples. In 2004 the Beach Museum acquired the Zanatta Editions' archives, which contain publications and related material, such as working and trial proofs, preparatory drawings and proofs from unprinted editions. The Beach exhibition brings together work from the museum's Zanatta holdings.
"A Family Affair: Selections from the Zanatta Editions Archives" will be on display in the museum's Ruth Ann Wefald Gallery through Jan. 4, 2009.
The Beach Museum is on the southeast corner of the K-State campus at 14th Street and Anderson Avenue. Free visitor parking is available next to the building. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays; and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. The museum is closed Mondays.
