TONY AWARD-WINNING MUSICAL 'SWEENEY TODD' COMES TO K-STATE'S MCCAIN AUDITORIUM
MANHATTAN -- The musical thriller "Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street" comes to Kansas State University's McCain Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, as part of the 2008-09 McCain Performance Series.
The musical will take the audience on a thrill ride as they watch the legendary demon barber pair up with his enterprising neighbor in a plot to slice their way through England's upper crust. The musical includes humor, bloody thrills and constant surprises. It also is enjoying immense popularity on the heels of the recent movie with Johnny Depp as the demon barber and Helena Bonham Carter as his loving accomplice.
"Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street" is the 2006 winner of two Tony Awards and four Drama Desk Awards, including Outstanding Revival of a Musical. The musical is directed by John Doyle with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.
