GARRISON KEILLOR TO PERFORM AT K-STATE'S MCCAIN AUDITORIUM
MANHATTAN -- Garrison Keillor, host of National Public Radio's "A Prairie Home Companion," will entertain as part of Kansas State University's McCain Performance Series. Keillor's performance will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, in McCain Auditorium.
Keillor is a writer, humorist and celebrity speaker. He entertains his audiences with anecdotes and tall tales about growing up in American's heartland, the aging process and late-life fatherhood.
His show, "A Prairie Home Companion," attracts more than 4 million listeners on more than 580 public radio stations across the country. The show became so popular that it was made into a critically acclaimed movie in 2006, directed by Robert Altman. The movie featured an all-star cast including, Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Kline and Keillor himself.
Keillor also hosts the radio program, "The Writers Almanac," and is the author of 12 best-selling books, including, "Lake Wobegon Days," "Love Me" and "Homegrown Democrat." He has received numerous awards, including a Grammy Award for his recording of "Lake Wobegon Days." Keillor was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame at Chicago's Museum of Broadcast Communications in 1994.
Tickets for Keillor's performance are on sale now. Prices start at $17.50 for K-State students and $35 for the general public.
