K-STATE'S ALL-UNIVERSITY CAREER FAIR, SEPT. 23-24, BRINGS RECORD NUMBER OF EMPLOYERS TO CAMPUS

MANHATTAN -- The 2008 All-University Career Fair at Kansas State University has reached another all-time high, with more than 340 employers scheduled to attend.

The fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, and Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Bramlage Coliseum. In general, employers with names beginning with A through J will attend Sept. 24 and those with names starting K through Z will attend Sept 23. A few firms have reserved space both days.

Next-day interviews will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, and Thursday, Sept. 25, in the Ballroom at the K-State Student Union. To secure a next-day interview, candidates must network with employers at the career fair.

"K-State students are highly sought-after candidates for employment," said Dottie Evans, associate director of K-State's career and employment services. "Employers know they can find employees with a strong work ethic and strong scholarship when they recruit at K-State."

In addition to full-time entry-level positions, many employers will be promoting co-op and internship opportunities.

"More and more employers are seeking exposure to K-Staters at an early point in their college careers," Evans said. "Recruiters are enthusiastic about meeting freshmen and other new students."

Students also benefit from the many recruiters at the fair who are K-State alums and can offer insight and advice for career planning, according to Evans.

K-State alumni also are welcome to attend the fair if they are seeking opportunities for career change or want to network with employers who are committed to hiring K-Staters.

Fair participants are encouraged to take the university shuttle from the west side of the Union to the northwest entrance of Bramlage. The shuttle will run every 20 minutes from 10:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Participating employers include: Accenture, Archer Daniels Midland, BNSF Railway, Cargill, Cerner, ConocoPhillips, Deloitte, Drury Hotels, Eli Lily, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Garmin, G.E. Aviation, GTM Sportswear, Harley-Davidson, Hormel Foods, Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, Koch Industries, Lockheed Martin, Northwestern Mutual, the Peace Corps, Security Benefit Group, Sherwin-Williams, State Street and Target.
