K-STATE'S MCCAIN PERFORMANCE SERIES TO FEATURE TANGO BUENOS AIRES, DIRECT FROM ARGENTINA

MANHATTAN -- Tango Buenos Aires, featuring live music and a troop of 25 dancers, will showcase an evening of tango dance as part of the McCain Performance Series at Kansas State University.

The show will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, in McCain Auditorium.

Joyce Yagerline, a professor with the K-State dance program, will present a pre-performance lecture and demonstration detailing the history of the tango and some of the tango moves, as well as discussing why the dance has become so popular. The lecture will begin at 6:30 p.m. in 204 McCain.

Tango Buenos Aires is presented by the Mid-America Arts Alliance and the National Endowment for the Arts. Additional funding is provided by the K-State fine arts fees and Friends of McCain.

Individual tickets cost $13 to $25. Tickets may be ordered by calling the McCain box office at 785-532-6428 between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays. Tickets may also be purchased online at http://www.k-state.edu/mccain

Tango Buenos Aires' K-State presentation will be "The Four Seasons," a program that explores the passion and sensuality of music and dance throughout the world.

Tango Buenos Aires was created for the "Jazmines" festival at the Buenos Aires cabaret "Michelangelo" by Osvaldo Requena. After enjoying success at the festival, the company was then added to the season of the General Martin Municipal Theatre. The company has toured extensively, performing in cities in Asia, North America, Europe and South America.
