TAP DANCE SENSATION SAVION GLOVER TO PERFORM WITH BARE SOUNDZ AT K-STATE'S MCCAIN AUDITORIUM

MANHATTAN -- Savion Glover, known as "the king of tap dance," will perform at Kansas State University's McCain Auditorium with fellow hoofers Bare Soundz at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2.

Glover has been dancing since age 7, and debuted on Broadway as "The Tap Dance Kid" at age 12. He won a Tony Award for his dancing and choreography in the Broadway hit "Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk." His other Broadway performances include "Black and Blue" and "Jelly's Last Jam."

Glover was the motion-capture dancer for the penguin Mumble in the Academy Award-winning animated movie "Happy Feet," and appeared in other movies such as "Tap" and Spike Lee’s “Bamboozled." He also has performed on TV's "Sesame Street," where he was a series regular for five seasons.

His collaboration with Bare Soundz features the dancers as the musicians. The performance showcases Glover's ability to choreograph dances that portray a sense of musicality to the audience. Other members of Bare Soundz are Marshall Davis Jr. and Maurice Chestnut. Both have been dancing since they were young and also shared the spotlight with Glover on Broadway in "Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk."

Tickets are on sale now. Prices start at $14 for K-State students and $28 for the general public. Discounts for seniors, military and K-State faculty and staff are also available. Tickets can be purchased at the McCain Auditorium box office, open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, or by calling 785-532-6428. More information also is available at http://www.k-state.edu/mccain/
