CIRRUS CO-FOUNDER DALE KLAPMEIER TO SPEAK AS PART OF K-STATE AT SALINA'S STUDENTS IN FREE ENTERPRISE LECTURE SERIES
SALINA -- Dale Klapmeier, vice chairman of Cirrus Design Corporation, will be the speaker for Kansas State University at Salina's fourth annual Students in Free Enterprise Lecture Series.
The lecture, which is co-sponsored by the Salina Airport Authority, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, in the College Center Conference Room at K-State at Salina. The lecture is free and the public is invited.
Cirrus Design Corporation's latest airplane, the Cirrus SR22, is the best selling airplane in its class and offers the company's new full-airplane safety parachute for added safety.
Cirrus, headquartered in Duluth, Minn., employees 1,250 people and has recently introduced a single-engine personal jet that also will feature the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System.
Klapmeier and his brother, Alan, started Cirrus in their parents' barn by hand-building single-engine airplanes that offered affordability, greater comfort, increased control and many safety features. Their work recently earned them the Experimental Aircraft Association's Freedom of Flight Award, the association's highest honor.
While in Salina, Klapmeier will meet with a number of classes at K-State at Salina, go on a campus tour and attend a dinner and reception with Salina Airport Authority board members and K-State at Salina officials.
