EDUCATION CAREER FAIR AT K-STATE PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS, EMPLOYERS

MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University's annual Fall Education Career Fair, organized by K-State career and employment services, will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, in the K-State Student Union Ballroom.

More than 60 school districts and employers from across Kansas and other states will attend, offering certified positions. This event is open to the public and certified teachers are welcome to attend.

The Fall Education Career Fair is targeted specifically at education majors interested in teaching in K-12 schools or other education affiliated organizations. Representatives from more than 45 Kansas school districts will attend, as well as from Arizona, California, Missouri, Nebraska and Texas.

Some of the school districts and organizations that will be attending include: Manhattan-Ogden USD 383; YMCA of Greater Kansas City; Columbia Public School District, Columbia, Mo.; Liberty Public Schools, Liberty, Mo; and the Peace Corps.

Students unsure about what they want to teach may want to visit with the Peace Corps or the YMCA of Greater Kansas City to learn more about how their teaching skills can be used by organizations outside of the K-12 teaching field.

A full list of all employers that will be attending the fair is available to students by using the "My CES Account" link at the career and employment services' Web site, http://www.k-state.edu/ces

The account is free. To activate, click on the account link. After logging into the database, click on "Career Fairs and Events," then select "Search Employers" next to the Education Career Fair. After passing this screen, students can narrow down their search to specific geographic areas or academic major.

To attend the Education Career Fair, students need to dress professionally or in business casual attire. They should also bring their K-State identification card and multiple copies of their resume. A registration desk near the front of the ballroom will be available for checking in before entering the fair.
