STUDENT
EDITORS CHOSEN FOR THE JOURNAL OF K-STATE'S COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE,
PLANNING AND DESIGN
MANHATTAN
-- The student editors for the 2006-2007 edition of Oz, the Journal
of the College of Architecture, Planning and Design at Kansas State
University, have been announced.
Students
in leadership positions on the staff include:
Kyle
Leiker, editor, fifth-year senior in architecture, Andover.
Leiker took part in the college's Italian studies program at Centro
Studi Citta di Orvieto during the spring 2006 semester, and was
as an intern in Des Moines, Iowa, with Herbert Lewis Kruse Blunck
over the summer.
Evan
Needham, associate editor, fifth-year senior in architecture, Prairie
Village. For three summers, Needham has worked for 360 Architecture
in Kansas City, Mo. Needham also studied at DIS in Copenhagen, Denmark,
during the spring of his fourth year of architecture studies.
Corey
Schneider, editor, fifth-year senior in architecture, Salina.
Schneider recently returned from a semester abroad at the college's
Italian studies program in Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy. He interned
this past summer in Kansas City, Mo., with Junk Architects whose
principals, Robert Junk and Dixie Roberts Junk, were editors of
Oz, Volume 3.
Other
staff members include:
Shawn
Morris, senior in architecture, Logan; and Adriana Molina,
fifth-year senior in architecture, Salina.
From
out-of-state: Gustavo Ramirez, fifth-year senior in architecture,
Santa Maria, Calif.; James Evrard, fifth-year senior in architecture,
Cleveland, Mo.; and Elvis Achelpohl, junior in architecture,
Kansas City, Mo.
Publication
advisers are Todd Gabbard, assistant professor of architecture,
and Ray Streeter, associate professor of architecture.
Oz
is dedicated to the exploration of ideas in design through the publication
of diverse responses to theoretical issues. Each year, students
seek out essays and projects from leading practitioners, scholars
and artists worldwide. The dialog enriches the staffs education,
and the journal serves as a printed record allowing for expanded
participation and debate for students, faculty, alumni and others.
Since its inception in 1979, Oz has received accolades and recognitions
including the Douglas Haskell Award for Student Journalism from
the American Institute of Architects New York, and numerous awards
for graphic design and printing.
