K-STATE
CELEBRATING FAMILY DAY NOV. 4 WITH TRADITION, TOURS, FOOD AND ENTERTAINMENT
MANHATTAN
-- Kansas State University is opening the campus to parents,
grandparents, siblings and other important people in students' lives
for Family Day, Saturday, Nov. 4.
From
tours and exhibits to food and games, Family Day offers a variety
of activities designed to showcase the history, tradition and special
connection between K-State, its students and their families.
"We
have a variety of activities for K-State students and their families.
The activities cover a broad range of interests and should have
a broad appeal across ages," said Emily Lehning, assistant
dean of new student services at K-State.
New
this year is the Taste of K-State, a food festival reflecting the
university's creative traditions and talents, from 5-6:30 p.m. in
the K-State Alumni Center Ballroom. Event sponsor Archer Daniels
Midland Co. will have a drawing for free K-State tuition up to $2,000.
Cost is $10 for students and $25 for family members. Reservations
are required. For more information, call 1-800-432-1578 or e-mail
pfa@k-state.edu.
Family
Day also features the tradition of the Legacy Pinning Ceremony and
Brunch, which recognizes the commitment of K-Staters across generations.
The event concludes with family members pinning current K-State
students as a symbol of shared loyalty. Family members who are not
alumni are honored with a "K-Stater by Choice" recognition.
Cost is $10 for students and $12.50 for family members. Reservations
