FAMILY
DAY'S NEWEST EVENT, 'TASTE OF K-STATE,' OFFERING SAMPLING OF FOOD,
ACADEMIC PROGRAMS, DRAWING FOR $2,000 IN PAID TUITION
MANHATTAN
-- Kansas State University's Parents and Family Association is inviting
guests to "A Taste of K-State" from 5-6:30 p.m. Saturday,
Nov. 4, at the K-State Alumni Center Ballroom.
The
festival, in conjunction with K-State's Family Day, will feature
a drawing for K-State tuition up to $2,000, paid for by the Archer
Daniels Midland Company.
The
festival's offerings will reflect the university's traditions and
talents. K-State families and guests can enjoy an array of university
specialties, including savory treats and delectable desserts. All
nine colleges will be featured with an interactive display that
showcases their talents and an accompanying food feature. Some of
the offerings include:
*
The College of Architecture, Planning and Design will feature upscale
desserts and the vision dome, where students can create 3-D virtual
walk-throughs of buildings and neighborhoods, allowing them to experience
their own designs.
*
K-State at Salina will feature drinks that fizz or change color,
as well as the Cat Cannon. Created by students, the Cat Cannon can
shoot T-shirts more than 300 feet in the air to fans at K-State's
Bill Snyder Family Stadium during football games.
*
The College of Business Administration will feature an around-the-world
theme with tapas and bruschetta. Guests will learn how global business
is becoming important in today's society.
*
The College of Arts and Sciences will feature sushi and lettuce
wraps, along with teaching guests how to write in Japanese. Guests
also can see what their name would be in another language.
Cost
is $10 for students and $25 for family and other guests. Reservations
are required. To make reservations or for more information, call
Angie Karr at 785-532-7584 or 1-800-432-1578. E-mail also can be
sent to pfa@k-state.edu
The
event sponsor, the Archer Daniels Midland Company, is sponsoring
a drawing for a prize of $2,000 in paid tuition. Tickets, which
can be purchased at the event, are $5 for a single ticket and $20
for five tickets. The ticket-holder must be present during the drawing
to win, and restrictions may apply. Representatives of Archer Daniels
Midlands will be available to discuss with parents and families
about guiding their students through the career development process.
