K-STATE STUDENTS EARN HONORS FROM STUDENTS OF AGRONOMY, SOILS AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES

MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University agronomy students earned awards and were elected to leadership positions with the Students of Agronomy, Soils and Environmental Sciences, the undergraduate organization of the American Society of Agronomy, the Crop Science Society of America and the Soil Science Society of America. The awards and elections were part of the society's annual meetings in Pittsburgh, Pa., Oct. 30-Nov. 5.

K-State students, all agronomy majors unless otherwise noted, receiving awards from the Students of Agronomy, Soils and Environmental Sciences or elected to a leadership position include:

Josh Carlin, sophomore from Alton, tied for second place in the visual presentation competition category; Bryson Haverkamp, sophomore from Bern, was elected national treasurer of Students of Agronomy, Soils and Environmental Sciences; Michael Stueder, sophomore from Claflin, a member of the first-place poster team with "Providing the Inside Scoop: Beyond the Profile," and elected membership committee chair of the Students of Agronomy, Soils and Environmental Sciences; Shae Pelkowski, freshman from Derby, elected chair of the research symposium committee of the Students of Agronomy, Soils and Environmental Sciences; Jason Unruh, junior from Peabody, chair of the Quiz Bowl committee of the Students of Agronomy, Soils and Environmental Sciences; James Hartshorn, senior from Tonganoxie, tied for second place in the visual presentation competition category; Josh Patterson, junior from Valley Center, a member of the first-place poster team with "Providing the Inside Scoop: Beyond the Profile"; and Bobbie Barthol, senior in agricultural education, Wellsville, a member of the first-place poster team with "Providing the Inside Scoop: Beyond the Profile."

From out of state: Hannah Christen, freshman from Oregon, Ill., co-chair of the speech contest committee of the Students of Agronomy, Soils and Environmental Sciences; and Allie Marks, sophomore from Norcross, Minn., a member of the first-place poster team with "Providing the Inside Scoop: Beyond the Profile."
