BRASIL GUITAR DUO TO VISIT K-STATE AS PART OF THE 2009-2010 MCCAIN PERFORMANCE SERIES
MANHATTAN -- The Brasil Guitar Duo will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, in All Faiths Chapel as part of Kansas State University's McCain Performance Series.
Winner of the 2006 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, the Brasil Guitar Duo has quickly emerged as one of the preeminent guitar duos of its generation. The ensemble has developed a broad repertoire of classical guitar duos, including Bach, Sor and Scarlatti, and in recent years has broadened its aesthetic to encompass the traditional music of its native land, such as samba, maxixe, choro and baiao. These diverse influences come together in the duo's programming, which features a seamless blend of traditional and Brazilian works.
The members of the duo, Joao Luis and Douglas Lora, met in Sao Paulo as teenage guitar students and have been performing together for more than 10 years, perfecting a sublime synchronicity and effortless performance style.
Tickets for the Brasil Guitar Duo are on sale now. Prices start at $12 for K-State students and $24 for the general public. Discounts for K-State faculty, children and military are also available. Tickets can be purchased at the McCain Auditorium box office, 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, or by calling 785-532-6428. More information is available online at http://www.k-state.edu/mccain/
