K-STATE COLLEGE OF HUMAN ECOLOGY SELECTS SCANDIA STUDENT TO RECEIVE SEGO AWARD, SPEAK AT COMMENCEMENT
MANHATTAN -- Shea Larson, a senior in communication sciences and disorders and modern languages, Scandia, has received the R. Jean Sego Commencement Award from the Kansas State University College of Human Ecology.
The award honors R. Jean Sego, former assistant dean of the college. During her 32-year tenure in student services at K-State, she helped hundreds of undergraduates achieve their goal of earning a bachelor's degree.
As the award recipient, Larson will deliver a two- to three-minute message at commencement on behalf of the graduating class. The college's December 2007 commencement ceremony will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, in McCain Auditorium.
During her time at K-State, Larson's activities have included: Blue Key senior honorary, All-University Open House student coordinator, Human Ecology ambassador, Court-Appointed Special Advocate, a youth cross country and track coach, and study abroad programs in Spain and Mexico. She also has received a K-State Leadership scholarship, a Kelsey Foundation scholarship, a Gamma Phi Beta Foundation scholarship, the Helen C. Shutte memorial scholarship, the Florence Funk Kirton memorial scholarship and several Charles Tuley scholarships.
Larson is a 2003 graduate of Pike Valley High School, Scandia. She is the daughter of Kent and Kim Larson, Scandia.
