K-STATE
WINS TWO UCEA REGIONAL MEETING AWARDS
MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University received two awards at
the 2006 Mid-America and Great Plains University Continuing Education
Association joint regional conference in Kansas City, Mo., Oct.
19-21.
K-State's
Bryan Vandiviere received the Support Specialist Award, while Axio
Learning received the Innovations and Contributions Award.
The
Support Specialist Award is given to a University Continuing Education
Association Great Plains Region professional member or a continuing
education staff person from a member institution who exemplifies
creativity and innovation in the area of program support. Vandiviere,
a Web presentation technology coordinator for the office of mediated
education at K-State, received the honor for his work in exploring
advancements in technology and keeping K-State faculty and program
coordinators up-to-date with Web technologies.
The
Innovations and Contributions Award is given for special items,
publications, support groups, print support items or activities
that demonstrate innovations and contributions to the field of adult
and continuing education and that are designed or developed by a
current Great Plains Region professional member or member institution.
Axio Learning received the honor for excellence in aiding K-State
Online in becoming a viable online distance learning management
system.
Since
2001, K-State has won seven national distance learning awards from
the four major associations for university continuing and distance
education learning. K-State is first in the number of national awards
of excellence for distance learning among all universities.
The
University Continuing Education Association awards program recognizes
excellence, individual achievement and contributions to the association
and the field of outreach.
