MOROSAN RECEIVES STOWE ENDOWED FACULTY DEVELOPMENT AWARD FROM K-STATE'S
COLLEGE OF HUMAN ECOLOGY
MANHATTAN
-- Cristian Morosan is the recipient of the 2006 Dean Barbara S.
Stowe Endowed Faculty Development Fund Award from Kansas State University's
College of Human Ecology.
Morosan
is an assistant professor in the department of hotel, restaurant,
institution management and dietetics.
He
was selected for the award because of his intent to interact with
experts in rural tourism, to develop collaboration with other universities
and to encourage public policies that promote sustainable rural
development through tourism, said Virginia Moxley, interim dean
of the College of Human Ecology.
Morosan
will be honored at the college's fall 2006 commencement ceremony
at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, in McCain Auditorium.
Before
coming to K-State, Morosan was program director for information
technology and tourism at the National Laboratory for Tourism and
eCommerce at Temple University in Philadelphia. He earned his doctorate
in foodservice lodging and management from Iowa State University,
his master's in hotel, restaurant and institution management from
Iowa State, and his bachelor's in tourism and services management
from Stefan cel Mare University in Suceava, Romania.
Among
his numerous publications is a co-written chapter in "Travel
Destination Recommendation Systems: Behavioral Foundations and Applications,"
published in summer 2006 by CAB International. His areas of expertise
include lodging management, tourism and Internet use, and agritourism.
The
Dean Barbara S. Stowe Endowed Faculty Development Fund Award supports
outstanding faculty in K-State's College of Human Ecology in their
pursuit of professional growth. The award provides $1,000 to support
expenses incurred during a professional development experience.
The award is named for Barbara Spilker Stowe, who was the college's
dean from 1983 to 1998.
