K-STATE
COLLEGE OF HUMAN ECOLOGY SELECTS STUDENT FROM ADMIRE AS RECIPIENT
OF R. JEAN SEGO AWARD, COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER
MANHATTAN
-- Sarah Kuhn, a senior in communication sciences and disorders,
Admire, has received the R. Jean Sego Commencement Award
from the Kansas State University College of Human Ecology.
The
award honors R. Jean Sego, former assistant dean of the college.
During her 32-year tenure in student services at K-State, she helped
hundreds of undergraduates achieve their goal of earning a bachelor's
degree.
As
the award recipient, Kuhn will deliver a two- to three-minute message
at commencement on behalf of the graduating class. The college's
December 2006 commencement ceremony is at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec.
9, in McCain Auditorium.
During
her time at K-State, Kuhn's activities have included: Phi Kappa
Phi honor society; K-State Student Speech Language Hearing Association,
including serving as community service chair; Kappa Omicron Nu honor
society, including serving as editor and president; Phi Upsilon
Omicron, a national honor society in family and consumer sciences;
Phi Beta Lambda, the collegiate division of Future Business Leaders
of America-Phi Beta Lambda Inc.; K-State Telefund caller for the
College of Human Ecology; and Ten:10 Bible study. She also has received
the Human Ecology Dean's Fund of Excellence Scholarship and the
Pauline Roedel and Joseph L. Sinnott Memorial Scholarship, and has
been on the college's dean's list.
Kuhn
is a 2003 graduate of Northern Heights High School. She is the daughter
of Michael and Susan Kuhn, Admire.
