THREE
K-STATE MARKETING STUDENTS FROM GREATER KANSAS CITY AREA USE PERSUASION
SKILLS TO EARN SCHOLARSHIPS IN ANNUAL SALES COMPETITION
MANHATTAN
-- The Brase Financial Group of Northwestern Mutual Financial
Network awarded scholarships to three marketing students in Kansas
State University's College of Business Administration as part of
an annual sales scholarship competition.
As
part of the competition, students participated in sales role-playing
scenarios with the professionals. More than 120 K-State students
developed seven- to 10-minute sales presentations. Students were
videotaped giving their presentations, and the top 20 students were
interviewed. Winners were selected based on a combination of their
presentation and interview scores.
First
place winner, Leisha Harrison, senior in marketing, Leawood,
received a $1,200 scholarship. Andrew West, a junior in marketing,
Overland Park, was awarded second place and a $500
scholarship. Third place winner was Kimberly Ernst, senior in marketing,
Leawood, earning $300.
The
Brase Financial Group, based out of Kansas City, Mo., sponsors the
sales scholarship competition in coordination with a professional
selling class offered by the department of marketing at K-State's
College of Business Administration.
Northwestern
Mutual Financial Network, the marketing name for the sales and distribution
arm of the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, is made up
of 7,900 financial representatives with more than 350 offices worldwide.
