K-STATE'S
COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION NAMES STEPHEN M. LACY AS FALL
2006 DISTINGUISHED LECTURER
MANHATTAN
-- Stephen M. Lacy, president and CEO of the Meredith Corporation,
will be the fall 2006 speaker for the College of Business Administration's
Distinguished Lecture Series at Kansas State University.
His
presentation will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, in McCain
Auditorium. The lecture is free and the public is invited.
Lacy
joined the Meredith Corporation in 1998 as vice president and chief
financial officer. He assumed operation duties in March 2004 and
was named president and chief operating officer in 2004. He also
served as interim president of the Meredith Broadcasting Group for
seven months in 2004-2005. He was elected to his current position
effective July 1 and is based in Des Moines, Iowa.
Meredith
Publications serves 85 million households on a daily basis through
its publishing and broadcasting offices across the country. Meredith's
major brands include Better Homes and Gardens, Ladies' Home Journal,
Family Circle, Parents, Fitness, Country Home and More magazines.
Meredith also has television stations in eight top-35 markets, including
Atlanta, Ga., Phoenix, Ariz., and Portland, Ore.

Ebadi, dean of the K-State College of Business Administration, said
he is delighted that students will have the opportunity to hear
one of the college's prestigious alumni speak.
"From
Lacy, our students will have an opportunity to learn how excellence
is the foundation for all success," Ebadi said. "Steve
is a certified public accountant and has parlayed his excellence
as a financial officer into his current success as chief executive
officer of one of the publishing world's most respected publishing
groups."
Lacy
earned a bachelor's degree and master's degree in accounting from
K-State. He serves as chairman of the board of directors of the
Direct Marketing Association and serves on the boards of the Advertising
Council and Magazine Publishers of America. Lacy also serves on
the boards of the Kansas State University Foundation and the United
Way of Central Iowa, and is a member of the K-State College of Business
Administration Dean's Advisory Council.
Lacy
was recognized by Advertising Age as Publishing Executive of the
Year in 2003 and 2005.
