OFFERING PLENTY OF HOLIDAY-THEMED EVENTS, SPECIAL GIFT IDEAS

-- With the holidays approaching, Kansas State University is ready
to spread the spirit of the season with performances and workshops.
K-State also can help with special gift ideas from Wildcat country.
Gift
ideas from K-State include:

Handcrafted pottery from K-State's Potter's Guild. The guild will
have a pottery sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, through
Wednesday, Dec. 6, in the K-State Student Union.

Products from K-State's Meat Lab. Items for sale include hickory-smoked
turkey, hickory-smoked boneless ham, summer sausage, Lebanon style
bologna and Wildkat loaf, as well as other beef, lamb, pork, cheese
and dairy products. Orders for Christmas and other winter holidays
are due by Friday, Dec. 1. Items may be picked up at the Call Hall
Dairy Bar between Wednesday, Dec. 6, and Wednesday, Dec. 20. Payment
should be made when order is picked up. The Dairy Bar is open 7
a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. To place orders or for more

Poinsettias grown at K-State's Throckmorton Hall greenhouses by
K-State students and employees from Manhattan's Big Lakes Developmental
Center working in a vocational training program. Poinsettias for
sale include: Freedom in red, white and pink; Peterstar in red,
white and pink; Sonora in red and white with multicolored bracts;
Prestige with dark red bracts; Winter Rose Red with incurved bracts;
and Cortez Burgundy with purple bracts. Pots measure 6.5 inches.
The cost is $6 per plant and sales tax is included. For an extra
$1, pots will be foil-wrapped. To order by phone or for more information,

Books and other items from the Books and Bytes Holiday Bazaar, Sunday,
Nov. 26, to Wednesday, Nov. 29. Sponsored by Friends of the K-State
Libraries, the bazaar has bargain- priced books and other gifts.
Books range from hardbacks by popular authors like Stephen King
to coffee table books and nonfiction, including many books about
history. Other bazaar items include K-State memorabilia, decorated
cookies, stocking-stuffers like teas and chocolates, and whimsical
items like a cow costume for a dog. Proceeds will help the libraries
with collection development and enhancement of the facilities. The
bazaar will be staffed from 1-9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9
p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

performances and activities at K-State include:

"The Hollywood Nutcracker" at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Dec.
1, in McCain Auditorium. The dance performance is the traditional
Christmastime story retold in the style of 1930s' Hollywood. For

Holiday Festival of Music by the University Ensemble, 7 p.m. Friday,
Dec. 1, at First United Methodist Church, 612 Poyntz Ave., Manhattan.
The performances feature the K-State Choir and Chorale, Rhapsody
Ringers and K-State's Brass Ensemble.

McCain Holiday Home Tour, meets at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at McCain
Auditorium. This is the semiannual fundraising event for McCain
Auditorium to help support the wide range of programming that comes
to K-State and the greater Manhattan community. For ticket information,

Annual Holiday Family Art Workshop, 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec.
3, at the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art. Cost is $5 per participant
or half-price for Beach Buddies. Children must be accompanied by
an adult. Reservations are not required. For more information, call

Christmas concert by the K-State Singers and K-State Men's and Women's
Glee clubs at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, in All Faiths Chapel. Admission
is $6 for the public and $4 for students and senior citizens.

Bluemont Buffet holiday buffet from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday,
Dec. 5, at the Bluemont Room and ballroom in the K-State Student

"A Christmas Story" showing Friday, Dec. 8, through Sunday,
Dec. 10, at the Little Theater in the K-State Student Union. The
film is rated PG and runs 94 minutes. Show times are 8 p.m. Dec.

The 1st Infantry Division Band holiday concert at 7 p.m. Friday,
Dec. 15, in McCain Auditorium. Tickets are free and may be picked
