DOW CHEMICAL COMPANY AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO K-STATE ENGINEERING STUDENTS

MANHATTAN -- The Dow Chemical Company has awarded seven Kansas State University engineering students scholarships totaling $23,000. Two students received Outstanding Junior Awards; five others were named Foundation Scholars.

The Dow Outstanding Junior Award includes a $1,500 scholarship and a summer internship with Dow. Students named Foundation Scholars receive a $4,000 scholarship and an invitation to participate in selected events with Dow.

K-State Dow scholarship winners are:

Amanda Martin, senior in chemical engineering and premedicine, Coffeyville, chemical engineering Foundation Scholar; and Amanda Jacobs, sophomore in chemical engineering, Derby, chemical engineering Foundation Scholar.

From Greater Kansas City: Erin Johnson, junior in chemical engineering, Gardner, chemical engineering Foundation Scholar; and Mary Sprouse, junior in mechanical engineering and pre-law, Leawood, mechanical and nuclear engineering Foundation Scholar.

From Manhattan: James De Jesus, senior in mechanical engineering, mechanical and nuclear engineering Foundation Scholar; and Jared Goodnight, senior in mechanical engineering, mechanical and nuclear engineering Outstanding Junior Award.

Lisa Mercurio, junior in chemical engineering, Salina, chemical engineering Outstanding Junior Award.
