K-STATE ADDS NEW DEGREE AND CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS TO ITS VARIETY OF DISTANCE EDUCATION OFFERINGS

MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University is adding to the variety of distance education programs it offers to adults who want to complete their education, further their careers or change professions.

K-State now offers eight bachelor's degree completion programs, 16 master's degree programs and 16 certificate programs through distance education.

Recently added degree and certificate programs are business administration and organizational leadership, as well as elementary education, which will be offered in southwest Kansas. K-State distance education also will offer applied statistics and public administration for the first time in spring 2007.

* The public administration program will cover the general principles of public administration, including budgeting, personnel, public organization theory and research methods.

* The applied statistics program is focused on the use of numerical measurements to help forecast sales, analyze business conditions, help solve management problems to maximize profits and develop new products and procedures.

* The business administration certificate will cover basic business knowledge.

* The organizational leadership certificate will prepare students to be effective leaders for their business's teams at all organizational levels.

* More information on the elementary education program for southwest Kansas will be available in the future.
