K-STATE'S
COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE, PLANNING AND DESIGN RECOGNIZING FIVE ALUMNI
FOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THEIR PROFESSIONS
MANHATTAN
-- Kansas State University's College of Architecture, Planning
and Design has named five outstanding 1996 K-State graduates as
its 2006 Alumni Honorees.
"The
2006 Alumni Honorees pursue their careers in diverse professional
settings and capacities for which their education from the College
of Architecture, Planning and Design helped them prepare,"
said Diane Potts, assistant to the dean of the college. "Through
these honorees, the college celebrates the vital contributions its
alumni make to environmental, social and economic preservation and
enhancement."
The
honorees will visit the K-State campus Thursday, Nov. 9, and Friday,
Nov. 10, to meet with students and faculty, as well as to participate
in class and studio visits. An exhibition of the honoree's professional
work is on display at the Chang Gallery in Seaton Hall until Nov.
10.
The
alumni being honored include:
*
Shel Barry, Lakewood, Colo., is an associate at the interior design
group RNL of Denver, Colo., and an adjunct instructor in space planning
at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. Barry, originally from
Superior, Neb., received a bachelor's degree in interior architecture
and a certificate in planning from K-State.

Don Burchett, is a senior planner with the community development
department of Longmont, Colo. Burchett's K-State degrees include
a master's in regional and community planning in 1996, and a bachelor's
in political science and gerontology in 1993. His is originally
from Kalamazoo, Mich.
*
Kerri Keithley Burchett, is a principal planner with the city of
Loveland, Colo. Originally from Manhattan, her K-State degrees include
a master's
in regional and community planning in 1996, and a bachelor's in
geography in 1994.
*
Scott Bingham, project manager for Bowman Bowman Novick Inc. in
Kansas City, Mo. He earned a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture
from K-State, with a secondary major in natural resource management
and a certificate in planning.
*
Yoonhie Lee is an assistant professor of architecture at Ewha Womans
University in Seoul, Korea. She earned bachelor's degrees in architecture
and interior architecture from K-State.
