K-STATE'S COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE, PLANNING AND DESIGN SELECTS WINNERS OF ANNUAL PHOTO COMPETITION

MANHATTAN -- Students in Kansas State University's College of Architecture, Planning and Design have been recognized for their skills as photographers through the college's annual photography competition.

The competition was open to all students in the college and 103 entries were received. Nineteen entries were chosen to receive recognition. Thomas A. Tyler, a 1974 K-State architecture graduate, and his firm, Answers Inc., St. Louis, Mo., sponsored the competition's prizes. First place awards earned $130; second place, $100; $75 for third; and $50 for honorable mention.

Competition winners include:

Dustin Clare, fifth-year architecture student, Dodge City, first place in the creative and other subject matter category and third place in the exterior architecture category; Omar Herrera, fourth-year architecture student, Emporia, third place in the black-and-white category.

From Greater Kansas City: Margaret Blair, fifth-year architecture student, Lenexa, first place in the exterior architecture category and honorable mention in the creative and other subject matter category; Kyle Rogler, third-year architecture student, Olathe, second place in the interiors and architectural details category; and Rachel Elise Allen, fifth-year interior architecture and product design student, Overland Park, honorable mention in the black and white category.

Steve Seng, fifth-year architecture student, Manhattan, second place in the black and white category; and Kristin Van Dusen, third-year architecture student, Wichita, second place in the creative and other subject matter category.

From out of state:

From Missouri: Mariann Wright, fifth-year interior architecture and product design student, Kennett, third place in the interiors and architectural details category; Paul Jarvis, third-year interior architecture and product design student, Manchester, honorable mention in the exterior architecture category; and Michael Meihaus, fifth-year landscape architecture student, first place in the black-and-white category, and Nathaniel Smith, fifth-year architecture student, first place in the interiors and architectural details category and third place in the landscape category, both of St. Louis.

Christa Bowman, third-year interior architecture and product design student, Plymouth, Minn., second place in the landscape category; Jill Nichols, fifth-year interior architecture and product design student, Blair, Neb., third place in the creative and other subject matter category.

From Texas: Patrick Ptomey, first-year landscape architecture student, Euless, honorable mention in the exterior architecture category; and Forrest Smith, third-year architecture student, Houston, first place in the landscape category.

John Wolf, third-year architecture student, Milwaukee, Wis., second place in the exterior architecture category.
