K-STATE'S COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE, PLANNING AND DESIGN HONORS STUDENTS FOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS

MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University's College of Architecture, Planning and Design has recognized several students for their scholarship, creativity and leadership.

The awards were presented at the college's spring 2009 commencement ceremony May 16. Recipients include:

Heather Wise, master's graduate in interior architecture and product design, Bucyrus, Eugene McGraw Scholastic Award for the highest grade point average in interior architecture and design, and the Jack C. Durgan Interior Architecture Award for exemplary design skills and for demonstrating the synthesis of specializations within the design curriculum.

Ian Scherling, master's graduate in landscape architecture, Goodland, Dr. Robert P. Ealy Award for academic excellence.

Julianne Rader, master's graduate in landscape architecture, Leawood, Dr. Robert P. Ealy Award for academic excellence and the American Society of Landscape Architects Competition Certificate of Merit for demonstrating the highest level of academic scholarship and skill in landscape architecture.

Lance Klein, master's graduate in architecture, Manhattan, John Helm Award for best graduate thesis.

John Perry, master's graduate in landscape architecture, Manhattan, Outstanding Graduate Award for academic performance and contributions to the college, his program and his peers, and the American Society of Landscape Architects Competition Certificate of Honor for demonstrating the highest level of academic scholarship and skill in landscape architecture.

Andrew Meessmann, master's graduate in landscape architecture, Manhattan, Dr. Robert P. Ealy Award for academic excellence.

Tim Sherman, master's graduate in interior architecture and product design, McPherson, Student Leadership Award for outstanding contributions to his department.

Sarah Morrow, master's graduate in landscape architecture, Overland Park, Quinlan Award for academic advancement in the study of landscape architecture.

Rebekah Udall, master's graduate in architecture, Colorado Springs, Colo., American Institute of Architects Henry Adams Medal for the highest grade point average in architecture, and the Alpha Rho Chi Medal for leadership, service and promise as a professional.

Kelly Egdorf, master's graduate in architecture, Chaska, Minn., American Institute of Architects Kansas Student Honor Award for outstanding academic work and active participation in the local student chapter of the institute, and the Tau Sigma Delta International Honor Society Bronze Medal for best exemplifying the society's motto of "craftsman, skilled and trained."

Abby Mann, master's graduate in interior architecture and product design, Ellisville, Mo., Outstanding Furniture Design Award.

Kevin Wade, master's graduate in architecture, Independence, Mo., American Institute of Architects Henry Adams Certificate of Excellence for having the second highest grade point average in architecture.

Jeremy Anterola, master's graduate in landscape architecture, Liberty, Mo., Landscape Architecture Foundation Olmsted Scholarship for exceptional leadership potential and engagement in sustainable planning and design for human and societal benefit, and the American Society of Landscape Architects Competition Certificate of Merit for demonstrating the highest level of academic scholarship and skill in landscape architecture.

Robin Banks, master's graduate in landscape architecture, Liberty, Mo., Dr. Robert P. Ealy Award for academic excellence.

Scott Capps, master's graduate in of landscape architecture, Liberty, Mo., Quinlan Award for academic advancement in the study of landscape architecture.

Ashley Williams, master's graduate in regional and community planning, St. Charles, Mo., Leland R. Edmonds Outstanding Research Award.

Anthony Fox, master's graduate in landscape architecture, St. Charles, Mo., Outstanding Graduate Award for academic performance and contributions to the college, program and his peers, and the American Society of Landscape Architects Competition Certificate of Honor for demonstrating the highest level of academic scholarship and skill in landscape architecture.

Kathryn Steib, master's graduate in interior architecture and product design, St. Louis, Mo., the Eugene McGraw Scholastic Award for the highest grade point average in interior architecture and design, and the James Dubois Outstanding Graduating Student Award for academic performance and contributions to the department, program and her peers.

Jill Nichols, master's graduate in interior architecture and product design, Blair, Neb., Outstanding Product Design Award.

Kelsey Kern, master's graduate in landscape architecture, Omaha, Neb., award for leadership and service as president of the K-State student chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.

Steven Munroe, master's graduate in regional and community planning, New Market, N.H., American Institute of Certified Planners Outstanding Student Award for academic performance, leadership, participation in planning activities and professional promise.
