K-STATE AT SALINA STUDENT FROM ELLIS RECEIVES DUNCAN AVIATION SCHOLARSHIP
SALINA -- Nathan Schuler, junior in aviation maintenance at Kansas State University at Salina, has been selected as the Duncan Aviation Scholarship recipient by the Aircraft Electronics Association.
The $1,000 scholarship is available to high school seniors and/or college students who plan to or who are attending an accredited school in an avionics or aircraft repair program. The scholarship is awarded through the Aircraft Electronics Association Educational Foundation.
As part of the competition, Schuler, Ellis, had to write an essay. Along with receiving the scholarship, he will be profiled in the August issue of Avionics News magazine.
Schuler, who also is pursuing a bachelor's in mechanical engineering, has already earned his aircraft airframe and powerplant certificates. He plans on working in the aviation field after finishing his degrees.
Schuler is active in SkillsUSA, a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations.
A K-State honors list student, Schuler is the son of Darryl and Judy Schuler and a 2006 graduate of Thomas More Prep-Marian, Hays.
