K-STATE OFFERING ATHLETIC TRAINING CAMP FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

MANHATTAN -- High school students have the opportunity to learn about taping, rehydration, stretching and other sports medicine topics at Athletic Training Student Camp, June 21-23, at Kansas State University.

Sponsored by K-State's department of human nutrition in the College of Human Ecology, the camp will offer experience in athletic training skills at the collegiate level. Students will receive the latest information in the world of sports medicine so they can assistant athletes in maximizing performance.

Highlights will include demonstrations and hands-on experience in taping techniques, knowledge on heat illness, importance of hydration and other topics. Students will observe and interact in educational sessions with Division I team physicians.

The camp cost of $215 includes residence hall, meals and materials. The rate is $170 for commuters. More information is available by contacting Matt Thomason, director of sports medicine and head athletics trainer for K-State intercollegiate athletics, at 785-532-6384 or mat9595@k-state.edu.
