K-STATE'S COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AMBASSADORS SELECTS NEW AT-LARGE MEMBERS

MANHATTAN -- New at-large members have joined Kansas State University's College of Engineering Ambassadors.

The mission of the ambassadors is to promote the engineering profession and to serve as hosts for the College of Engineering. The ambassadors give more than 750 tours to prospective students visiting K-State's engineering complex each school year; they help with special on-campus events like Engineering Day and the college's open house activities, as well as supporting off-campus events like K-State Celebrates and Engineer's Week activities in Kansas City; and they make more than 100 visits to high schools, meeting with students and teachers and discussing the engineering profession and the transition to college life.

To become an ambassador, an engineering major at K-State must first be nominated based on academic performance. Ambassadors at-large are then selected through an application and interview process.

Faculty adviser to the group is Tom Roberts, assistant dean, recruitment and leadership, for the College of Engineering.
