NEWS TIP: SHORT VIDEOS OF K-STATE EXPERTS TALKING ABOUT NEGATIVE CAMPAIGNS, FEMALE CANDIDATES, DOWNLOADABLE FROM WEB

MANHATTAN -- Short videos with Kansas State University experts on political campaigns are available to view or download at our Web site:

Topics so far include "The future of female candidates for president"; "Trends in negative campaign advertising"; "Negative campaigning nothing new"; "Are negative ads effective?"; and "How candidates stay clean but campaign dirty."

David Procter is a professor of communication studies and director of the Center for Engagement and Community Development at K-State. Procter discusses how negative campaigning is nothing new but it has changed in that outside groups are often doing the dirty campaigning.

Sue Zschoche is an associate professor and chair of the department of history at K-State. Her expertise is in United States women's history. Zschoche talks about the history of U.S. women running for president and the challenges that a female candidate faces.

The videos, available to all, can be downloaded for Web sites or blogs. PC users can right-click on the link and choose "Save As ..."; Mac users can option-click on the link. More topics and additional experts will be posted regularly.
