HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS CAN GET A TASTE OF COLLEGE LIFE APRIL 19 AT K-STATE'S ALL-UNIVERSITY OPEN HOUSE

MANHATTAN -- Whether you can't wait to start college or aren't quite sure what to expect, Kansas State University has all the answers at its All-University Open House 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19.

The free Open House, which takes place on K-State's campuses in Manhattan and Salina, is a great time for high school students to see all aspects of campus. Tours and exhibits show what K-State has to offer while keeping the rest of your family entertained with games, food and high-energy shows like Kansas City's Marching Cobras.

This year the Wildcats' spring football scrimmage also falls on Saturday, April 19. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m., and before and after the game, carnival rides will be available outside Bill Snyder Family Stadium. The night before, at 7 p.m. April 18, the Goo Goo Dolls will play a concert as part of the Gridiron Bash. Tickets are $38-$44; for more information, visit http://www.k-statesports.com

Here's how K-State's All-University Open House can answer your questions about college:

* Confused about how to get into college or how to pay for it? Talk with admissions and student financial assistance representatives at the K-State Student Union.

* Wondering what it's like to live on campus? Tour a residence hall or a scholarship house. There's a $5 all-you-can-eat sandwich bar at each residence hall dining center during lunch. And you can stop by a model living space in the Union for information and a chance at prizes.

* Going Greek? Talk to fraternity and sorority members in the Union, then catch a shuttle to tour Greek houses from noon to 3 p.m.

* Trying to pick a major? Check out the displays at buildings across campus and talk to faculty and students from some of K-State's more than 250 undergraduate majors.

* Still not sure? Take a free assessment to see which careers -- and K-State majors -- might be just your thing. Assessments are offered every hour beginning at 10 a.m. at 14 Holton Hall, but sign up early!

* Wondering what there is to do on campus? Stop by the Union to learn about K-State's nearly 450 student organizations. Take a tour of Hale Library, the centerpiece of K-State's campus. Tour the Peters Recreation Complex, where K-State students enjoy intramural sports and fitness activities in spacious surroundings.
