K-STATE STUDENTS LEND A HAND BEHIND THE SCENES AND IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA FOR ON-CAMPUS FILMING OF 'MODERN MARVELS' EPISODE ABOUT BREAD

MANHATTAN -- Several Kansas State University students rolled up their sleeves to help a crew filming a documentary television show at K-State.

The film crew was on campus in February taping segments for an episode of "Modern Marvels" about bread. Students in the department of grain sciences and industry got the Hal Ross Flour Mill up and running before filming, and also set up and performed demonstrations in the wheat quality lab and baking lab. The crew also interviewed several K-State faculty members about all aspects of bread, from the process of creating it to the science that goes into it.

The bread episode of "Modern Marvels" is slated to air Monday, March 24, on The History Channel.

K-State students participating included:

Amanda Lindahl, senior in bakery science and management, Enterprise; Hayes Charles, junior in milling science and management, Hays; Matthew Mitchell, senior in milling science and management, Liberty.

From Manhattan: Sean Finnie, graduate student in grain science; Jian Li, graduate student in grain science; Dustin Mariman, senior in milling science and management; and Kehley Pfrang, senior in milling science and management.

Stacy Goedeke, senior in milling science and management, McCune; Bradley Christie, senior in milling science and management, Stafford; Chris Miller, graduate student in grain science, St. George; and Megan Holton, junior in milling science and management, Tonganoxie.

From out of state: Karolyn Stoerzinger, graduate student in grain science, Inver Grove Heights, Minn.
