FINAL LARSON LECTURE OF THE YEAR ABOUT K-STATE'S PARTNERSHIP WITH KABUL UNIVERSITY

MANHATTAN -- The final Vernon Larson Lecture of the school year will be at a special time and be in conjunction with the annual meeting of Kansas State University's Friends of International Programs.

The event starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at the Holiday Inn, 17th Street and Anderson Avenue. Dinner will be served in place of the usual lunch buffet. Dinner will begin at 7 p.m. The cost for both the dinner and the lecture is $20 per person; no lecture-only tickets are available for this event. To make reservations, contact K-State's office of international programs at 785-532-5990 by Friday, April 4.

The lecture will be "The World Bank Afghanistan USAID Projects at Kansas State University." Speakers include David Hodgson, associate professor of clinical sciences; Ketty Reppert and Angela DiCostanzo, instructors with the office of international programs; and Sarah Ahmadi, a master's student in modern languages, Manhattan. The speakers will discuss their experiences at Kabul University in Afghanistan, as well as highlight projects that K-State's department of English, College of Engineering and College of Veterinary Medicine have partnered on with Kabul University.

The Vernon Larson International Luncheon Lecture Series was started in 1979 by Vernon C. Larson, then director of international agriculture programs at K-State. The series consists of six lectures, three in the fall semester and three in the spring semester, and offers the K-State community a chance to hear presentations from faculty who have recently participated in extensive overseas activity or who are involved in major international activities.
