KANSAS
LEGISLATORS TO VIEW RESEARCH BY GRADUATE STUDENTS FROM K-STATE,
OTHER RESEARCH SCHOOLS MARCH 15
MANHATTAN
-- The annual Capitol Graduate Research Summit will be Thursday,
March 15, at the Kansas Statehouse in Topeka. The summit features
work by graduate students at Kansas State University, University
of Kansas, KU Medical Center and Wichita State University.
The
summit begins at 10 a.m. and posters will be on display around the
second floor rotunda of the Statehouse until 2:30 p.m.
The
event gives legislators and the public a chance to review research
projects that are relevant to Kansas and to visit with the students
and ask questions about their work.
This
year's summit will include 32 student researchers, including 10
graduate students from K-State, eight from KU, four from the KU
Medical Center and 10 from Wichita State.
Among
the K-State research topics this year are colon cancer research,
cow-calf producers reactions to the national animal ID system, the
effects on elementary science education of the No Child Left Behind
program, and the preparedness of food service operators in the face
of food terrorism. K-State students participating include:
George
W. Griffith, graduate student in curriculum and instruction, Almena.
From
Manhattan: Allan Ayella, graduate student in human nutrition;
Sharon Breiner, graduate student in animal science; Laura Christianson,
graduate student in biological and agricultural engineering; Tom
Everett, graduate student in chemistry; N. Ashwini Kamath, graduate
student in civil engineering; Kuei-I Lee, graduate student in human
ecology; Amanda Meyer, graduate student in chemistry; and Eunju
Yoon, graduate student in human ecology.
Kira
Arnold, graduate student in agronomy, St. George.

of the summit are the graduate student organizations of K-State,
