AWARD-WINNING
PHOTOGRAPHS BY K-STATE STUDENTS FROM THE COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE,
PLANNING AND DESIGN ON DISPLAY UNTIL MARCH 30
MANHATTAN
-- Entries in the Kansas State University College of Architecture,
Planning, and Design's first Student Photography Competition are
being displayed at the Chang Gallery in Seaton Hall until Friday,
March 30.
The
gallery is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
The
competition was open to all graduate and undergraduate students
in the College of Architecture, Planning and Design, said competition
organizer Fayez Husseini, professor of interior architecture and
product design. The competition jury included Bill Adams, K-State
professor of journalism and mass communications, and Jim Rigg, art
and design director at K-State's Educational Communications Center.
Fifteen
of the 86 entries in the blind competition were selected for special
recognition. Prizes awarded were $100 for best in show, $75 for
first place, $50 for second place and $25 for third place. The competition
prizes were sponsored by the dean's office of the College of Architecture,
Planning and Design.
Winners
included:
From
Greater Kansas City: Michael Slater, fifth-year student in
interior architecture and product design, Olathe, first place
in interiors and architectural details; and Andrew Barnes, second-year
student in architecture, Overland Park, second place
in exterior architecture and third place in interiors and architectural
details.
Eric
Vossman, fifth-year senior in architecture, Lake Quivira,
third place in black and white; Subhojit Sinha, graduate student
in architecture, third place in landscape, and David Vogel, graduate
student in landscape architecture, second place in interiors and
architectural details, both of Manhattan; Troy Carlson, fifth-year
student in architecture, second place in black and white, and Sarah
Karlan, fifth-year student in architecture, first place in black
and white, both of Topeka; and David Stauth, fifth-year student
in architecture, Wichita, third place in exterior architecture.
From
Missouri: Patrick Kost, third-year student in architecture,
Blue Springs, first place in creative and other subject
matter; Beth Naumann, fifth-year student in interior architecture
and product design, Chesterfield, first place in exterior
architecture; Adam Hutschreider, fifth-year student in architecture,
Holts Summit, third place in creative and other subject
matter; Katie Gall, third-year student in interior architecture
and product design, Independence, second place in creative
and other subject matter; Michael Pickett, fifth-year student in
architecture, Liberty, best in show for landscape; and Andrew
Billing, fifth-year student in architecture, Wentzville,
second place in landscape.
